Well Hello you lovely lot, I am sat writing you this on Tuesday 5th September 2023 it has reached the heady heights of 27 degrees today and we FINALLY have Summer!!! Whoo hoo!!
The moth eaten jumpers I had started to pull out of the back of the wardrobe have been quite firmly shoved back in because I am going to expose as much skin (that is legally allowed) in these next few days of glorious sunshine.
What a strange year for growing it has been with extremes of blistering Sun and then wetter than an otters pocket with no in between to get my breath back.
Time is turning now though to start sowing my hardy annuals for next year, I will be direct sowing a lot of them once I get my beds sorted out (yes I am reorganising the flower farm again)! I will also sow some in pots and keep them covered in the potting shed or cold frame just to make sure I have a degree of control.
If you want to join along you should be looking at sowing things such as phacelia, corncockle, nigella, stocks, Ammi, Cornflowers, Cerinthe, Sweet peas and Scabiosa to name but a few. This will mean I have a good start to next years growing season when Spring pops up her lovely fresh head. As always if you need any help or advice on your growing then feel free to message me on my socials or reply to this email and I’m happy to help.
In other news I have just recently had a stall at the Epworth Agricultural Show on the last bank holiday Monday which was quite a feat to organise but was a spectacularly lovely day full of shire horses, dog agility and flower selling! Splendid!
Ive also finally managed to kick all my husbands Motorbikes and other paraphernalia out of the garage and will shortly be turning that space into a fresh as a daisy studio! I am SO SO excited… in here I can run lots of different workshops and open the flower farm up more regularly as I have a dedicated space to welcome you all and display the cut flowers. This studio will also be available to rent out to other creatives so do message me if you would like further information on this.
I have a lot of new things for sale for Autumn and Halloween on the website and this will be developed further towards Christmas. I also have an Etsy store which features my Arty side of my personality so feel free to check that out when you have a spare minute, if you can favourite my shop too that would be so helpful. cubdesignstudio.Etsy.com
You can also collect anything you might like directly from me at the farm.
Remember I am here for all your floral needs, you can message or call me if you would like some beautiful pesticide free, organic flowers delivering locally (or collect) to someone you love or maybe as a gift of thanks.
Anyway, enough of my ramblings… spread the word about your local British grower ( that’s me) hope you all enjoy these last few days of warm ground and I will leave you with this quote.
”By all these lovely tokens, September days are here. With summer’s best of weather and Autumn’s best of cheer” - Helen Hunt Jackson
Love, light and ripe tomatoes!
